Extraneous

Extraneous

<ex-train-ee-is>

irrelevant; unimportant; unrelated.

Something that has nothing to do with the current topic of discussion.

The fact that he was blue is extraneous in this case. It was dark and blue looks just like black. It is unimportant.

Memory Trick:
Extraneous reminds of extra. The extra is not important.

Used at work:
The background of the person is extraneous. Anyone can do this job so it is irrelevant.
