Odd; peculiar; otherworldly;

Being beyond what is natural.

It was preternatural to see flying turtles until we saw it was a kite.


Rabbits in the tree were preternatural and very odd to see.

You don't go. You sink your boat. Scuttle means to sink a ship on purpose.
